Sponsors are personal guides for healing and staying sexually awake, usually not friends or lovers at the beginning. Often, the sponsor is someone of the same gender and he has achieved some success in sexual rehabilitation long enough. He or she should be active in recovery and work hard in 12 steps. Additionally, the sponsor’s personal situation should match Sponsee so that he or she can guide newly recovered addicts more independently. For example, if a newly recovered sexual or porn addict is married to a child, it may be desirable for a sponsor who may also marry the child. If a newly recovered addict is HIV positive, it may be helpful to have an HIV positive sponsor. ETC.

Today’s mission
Create a list of people you know in recovery who “speak your language” and “have what you want.” Do this even if you already have a great sponsor.
