The thought of being trapped underwater or in a bathtub can be terrifying to some people. To others, it can be exciting. If you fall into the last category (or are just curious), then this guide is for you!

I’ll also add a little disclaimer, if you’ve never participated in this kind of kink before, it’s best to play with someone who has experience.

What is Water Bondage?

In simple terms, this game uses water As part of a bondage scene or experience. It can involve anything from a large custom tank to a shower head. It is an interesting form of restraint and control because it can include many other forms of bondage.

notes: Please don’t confuse this with “water sports” – which involve things like toilets.

How water is used

Breathing Control – One of the biggest reasons people love this product is the way it allows you to control your breathing. This can be anything from twisting and panting around the shower head to holding your breath underwater.

Side Note – Playing with water bondage does not mean you have to control breathing. If your slave wants, they can control their breathing 100%.

Control and Domination – For Top or Bottom, controlling basic human functions (with the illusion of life or “possible” death) can be truly thrilling.

Impact Game – A high-pressure stream of water from a hose (or a powerful shower head) can create the same sensation as being whipped, caned, spanked, or other impact play.

Replenish – Yes, you can just hold someone down with your hands. But this kink is very flexible. You can add any other restraints you want – from bondage tape or handcuffs to ropes or complex combinations. You can also add all kinds of sex toys or intercourse.

humiliation – It’s not just the water, but how you place their bodies in the scene. They can be in vulnerable, humiliating poses. You can dress them in clothes that make them blush. Dirty make-up, messy hair and water-soaked clothes can also add to the atmosphere.

Temperature Effect – If you are in the bathroom, you can change from warm to cold water at any time.

Water boat

Some professional perverts or porn makers have Houdini tanks or other elaborate rigs. You don’t need this.

Anything that can hold water will do – showers, bathtubs, inflatable pools, real pools, storage bins, buckets, bowls (yes, something as simple as a bowl). Even so, you can still participate in water bonding with something as simple as a hose (no container required).

Be safe when you get wet

The safety precautions here are longer than in other guides because water bondage is considered more dangerous and therefore a fringe game. This is not to say that you can’t do it, but you need to be extra careful and cautious.

From the little things – Beginners should stick to playing under the shower head rather than in a full bathtub or swimming pool. This allows you and your partner to find your comfort zone and practice communication and problem-solving skills in a safer environment. However, if possible, it’s best to play with someone who has played before the first few times you play.

control – I repeat… DO NOT HUNT! Wrestling or fighting for dominance during play is not kink. The person doing the dunking should stand outside the tub/shower/tank and do the dunking discreetly and carefully.

It can have illusion Rough. There may be slight resistance (from the submissive), but that’s it. Because when you’re tied up, the last thing you want is for your partner to let go and keep you underwater longer or deeper than you’re comfortable with.

Water Bondage - 10 Things You Need to Know Before Trying It Water Bondage 10 Things You Need to Know BeforeSlip – Have you read all those warnings about shower accidents? Well, remember them. The shower is not the place for silly hijinks.

Make sure you have one Rubber mat In your shower, Mats on the floorEtc. If you are in a swimming pool, make sure you keep your footing.

Pressure and temperature – Yes, you can shock and temperature adjust, but too hot, too cold or too strong can cause damage. Keep it at a reasonable temperature/temperature (trust me, it will be enough) and slowly increase the pressure until you find the sweet spot for your sub.

health – Obviously, make sure the water and container (sink, tank, tub, bucket, etc.) are clean.

Gastrointestinal disorders – You can wear a mouth gag while playing, but it will make breathing more difficult. Make sure water or streams do not reach your mouth. Also, do not use a mouth gag while “dunking.”

communicate – Make sure you have a verbal and non-verbal safe word.

observe – The controller needs to know their partner 100%. Not everyone will remember to use their safeword, and some subs may end up in subspace and not be able to communicate at all. Subspace safety can be addressed before any game. Have a plan and a back-up plan so you know what to do.

plug – Some people cannot hold their breath underwater without plugging their nose. Either use a firm nose plug or avoid surfacing altogether.

Dunk – Even in a barrel, dunking is a high-risk activity that novices should never practice.

Beginners scenario

take a shower Have your partner kneel in the shower (if there’s room). Tie their wrists with Velcro straps (since they can get out quickly and easily). Run a gentle stream of warm water, slowly increasing the water pressure while moving the stream to different parts of their body. Next, add a vibrator, alternating between warm and cold water.

tub – Tie your partner’s ankles and wrists and have them lie in the tub (on their back). Slowly fill the tub with water until it’s just above their mouth/nose (they can still control their breathing). Press them against your chest and add sex toys or physical contact (whether or not this is pleasurable is up to you and your partner).

external – If you have a private place, tie your partner to something stable/sturdy (like a picnic table or deck railing, etc.). If you don’t know ropes, just use Velcro restraints. Use a garden hose as a tool for impact play. You can also add other impact toys like a paddle or your hands.
