Located in the Ginza version of Ginza, Tokyo’s Punch Room has a unique and compelling concept: its rich history, as the name suggests. The drink originated from a trade ship and eventually entered the tables of the nobles while still retaining the adventurous and international spirit of its merchant ship origins. Punch Room guides this dual sense of luxury and exploration, with its spacious menu and interior design inspired by London’s 19th-century private club – luxurious and lush, low-lighting.
The concept of the punching room of Tokyo menu is “Wonderland”, and its drink tells a story of Japanese culture, which can be seen from the outside world. Here are some of the favorites from the bar’s new “WonderlandVol. 2” menu.
Revenge in Kunming, Taiwan
“Oyoge” by Japan’s best-selling single “Masato Shimon”! Taiyaki-Kun is a children’s song about Taiwan, and he is tired of cooking on hot plates every day. What happens if the fish cake rebels and plans to fight back? This cocktail is Taiwan-Kun’s sweet and spicy revenge. It’s a stylish espresso martini with a harsh togarashi kick and a touch of passion fruit that creates a tingling sensation in the mouth.
Korakuen & Matcha – Old-style
Three cocktails on Wonderland Roll. 2 menus are based on three large gardens in Japan: Kenrok-En of Kanaze, Korakuen of Okayama and Kairakuen of Mito. Korakuen & Matcha is a good selection. Inspired by the tea ceremony in the garden commemorating the Zen Buddhism Eisai, it is an old-fashioned cocktail made with matcha and seasoned with peaches.
Wasabi Sonic
Gin Sonic is a very popular drink, a refreshing high ball cocktail that is made by mixing gin with equal tonic water and soda, which gives the subtle scent of the juniper-flavored spirit to glow. In this case, add mustard to give the cocktail a savory, spicy flavor. It’s one of the most popular drinks in Tokyo, and there’s a good reason.
Kappa & Yuzu
The fabulous aquatic creature of Kappa & Yuzu is a playful tribute, an easy-to-drink highball style cocktail. It includes Doburoku – an ancient sake that is unfiltered – and some Yuzu to produce a sour taste. To end everything, there is a cucumber, as this is the cucumber that Kappa loves to have a feast.
Bamboo Catana Martini
A mild drink with a pleasant aroma, is a combination of two cocktails: bamboo, a 19th-century Japanese drink that mixes sherry with dry vermouth, and one using roku gin and kumazasa tea. Infused with bamboo leaves on a mini samurai and finished with green peach compote, it is a creative alternative to the classic gin martini.
