A sponsor is someone who knows everything about you and is still willing to help you.

Sponsors provide guidance and much-needed support to sex and porn addicts going through withdrawal, helping them complete the 12 steps to sexual recovery and deal with triggered addictive behaviors. The sponsored person’s job is to be honest, open, and willing to seek and accept the sponsor’s advice. Whenever a recovering sex or porn addict feels an urge, the addict should contact his or her sponsor. Sometimes, simply picking up the phone and asking for help can lessen the urge to act.
