The best is yet to come Come.
A hot new study of older adults finds that more than one-third of Americans over 55 still have sex at least once a week.
A Carewell survey of 687 older Americans on their sexual habits and preferences showed that those in their 70s are having more sex than those in their 50s.
A staggering 42% of septuagenarians do something dirty at least once a week, compared with 35% of those aged 55 to 60.
America’s amorous elders are also experimenting, with more than a quarter of those surveyed saying they’d be willing to shake things up and take risks in the bedroom.
Now that pregnancy is no longer a risk, a surprising number of older adults also admit they have unprotected sex.
Among people in non-monogamous relationships, 45% said they did not use a condom during sex, and the authors of the Carewell study said: “This lack of caution may put many older adults at risk of infection, even if they I think this possibility is very low.”
According to the findings, one in 10 older adults surveyed said they had had more than one sexual partner in the past year.
However, Carewell’s research shows that “emotional intimacy and physical intimacy are closely related.”
“As people age, the way they experience intimacy often changes,” the authors write. “For many older adults, emotional intimacy is as important, if not more important, than the physical aspects of sex.”
“them [the respondents] said their sexual satisfaction was largely dependent on emotional intimacy with their partner,” the authors continued.
While sex may not stop once our hair turns gray and starts to droop, older adults admit it has some drawbacks.
Among adults over 55, 46% have suffered from erectile dysfunction or have a partner who has suffered from erectile dysfunction.
More than half (51%) said their sex drive was less than before, while 27% admitted that medical conditions and medications often affected their sex drive and level of filthiness.
