Tinder tries new height filters to connect more
You have to be very high to slide.
Did the short-lived king rule on the fire? After testing a new feature, the platform was accused of superficiality, which allows users to filter potential matches based on a high degree of success.
“It’s part of helping people build a broader effort more intentionally on Tinder,” a representative for the dating platform told Mashable.
New audit features are revealed through Reddit and other platforms, located in the Discovery section of the Digital Romance Service and allow users to specify the minimum and maximum heights of their matches.
This feature is only available to users who subscribe to Tinder Platinum, the main subscription tier for $39.99 per month. In addition to the new height options, the layer also includes priority likes, specific interest filters, messages before matching functions, and more.
Meanwhile, regular users can already customize several search preferences in their discovery settings, including age range, sexual orientation, and distance.
The platform’s representative is owned by Match Group, assured users that the height filter is being tried as paid priority, rather than a fixed stone filter.
The idea is that paid preferences such as height allow users greater autonomy without having to cut down certain matches altogether, Mashable reports.
“We’ve been listening to what’s most important to Tinder users – the high preference for testing paid is a great example of how we build with urgency, clarity and concentration,” a Tinder spokesman said. “Not every test becomes a permanent feature, but each test can help us learn how to provide a smarter, more relevant experience and push the category forward.”
However, this digital code is not good for many critics on social media, some of whom blame the app for its supremacy.
“For all our ephemeral kings, justice!” declared one.
“Tinder is implementing a height filter that will allow women to filter out in men below their preference height.” One objector on X said: “It is so hypocritical that men are demonized by preference, but it is OK for women, but for men, men often cannot change. Imagine if Tinder has added a weight filter.”
However, some defenders think people are building a mountain with Molehill.
“A big fan of Little Mars Filters for no reason, besides growing men’s lives,” one woman quipped.
Another man said, “Oh my god………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Indeed, Hinge Hinge Hinge, a dating app from another competition group subsidiary, has already provided a height filter for quality users.
Interestingly, the new Dry Run ironically, the incoming Tinder CEO Spencer Rascoff took over after Faye Iosotaluno, who announced her resignation after less than two years of work to help the platform stigmatize it as a superficial hook-up app in an effort to disappoint Zoomers.
Generation Z users have been reportedly fleeing the platform in search of dating apps that could lead to more lasting relationships.
According to a 2023 Wells Fargo survey, about 85% of dating app users say they are not using Tinder because of their association with “connection”.
Rascoff also hopes to reverse the entire competition group by accelerating product changes, adopting artificial intelligence and improving user security, and other measures.
