The KPF file is really just a zip file that contains all the project files — including the *.kcb file. So you should be able to re-create your *.kcb file from the *.kpf file by doing the following:

1. Rename the *.kpf file extension to *.zip.
2. Then extract the contents of the *.zip file(using WinZip or WinRAR) to a folder.
3. Within the new project folder you will find the *.kcb file.
4. Just click on the *.kcb file and it should automatically open in Kindle Create. You should now be able to make modifications and then save your KC project as a project file using File > Save Project As and also separately save it as your uploadable KPF file using File > Publish.
