More companies should make sex toys that can be used by people with disabilities, because accessible sex toys are just Better – instead of The only For people with disabilities, Everyone. Let me explain.

My spouse once gave a talk about software accessibility, and she described the “curb cut effect”: a phenomenon where features developed for people with disabilities end up benefiting more people as well. For example, think about how automatic sliding doors improve accessibility for people who use wheelchairs or mobility scooters, while also making it easier for people with disabilities to use the system. Capable –For example, if someone is carrying two armloads of groceries or pushing a child in a stroller, it will be difficult for them to walk through the door.

For the same reason, I strongly support more sex toy companies developing products that are more acceptable all This category of people, because we can all benefit from these design choices, sometimes in unexpected ways. Let’s talk about one such case, the Funzze Finger Vibe.

What yes Funzze Finger Vibe, why its easy-to-use design is potentially beneficial to everyone

Funzze has a fairly extensive catalog of products, but the Finger Vibe caught my eye right away because it looks like it would be comfortable for me to hold, even on days when my hands are aching from fibromyalgia. It’s shaped like a fairly standard clitoral vibrator, but it has two little “wings” on the back that allow you to easily hold the toy with two fingers without having to apply too much pressure to secure the vibrator in your hand. For those with muscle strength/mobility issues and/or chronic pain in their hands, myself included, this may make this toy easier to use than a standard clitoral vibrator.

That being said, even if you are able-bodied and ambidextrous (!), you may still find value in toys like this. Anyone who wants an “unobtrusive” toy that makes you forget you’re using a toy may want to consider a finger vibrator – because once you get used to the feel of the toy in your hands, it can (sometimes) feel like you’re just touching your partner (or yourself) like normal, but with some vibrations magically incorporated into the touch. It’s a more intuitive and “natural” way to incorporate some vibrations into your sex life.

But to summarize the actual specs: The Finger Vibe is a rechargeable, silicone and ABS plastic vibrator with 9 vibration settings.

What I like about this toy

  • First of all, I think I need to say up front that it costs thirty dollars. steal For a nice and versatile rechargeable mood light, I had to keep its price point in mind when evaluating it.
  • I real I love the design, both visually and tactilely, from the stylized silicone “wings” that remind me of a butterfly, to the shiny plastic heart-shaped panels beneath them, to the way the toy feels in my hands. It’s comfortable, cute, and cool. My hands never get tired of holding it, and it looks comfortable, too. The wings are flexible enough that they should be able to fit a variety of finger sizes, and they’re designed so that I almost never let go of the toy.
  • Specifically, I really like the contoured shape for the clitoral area (or any other specific body part you’re targeting with this toy). Its shape is perfect for this purpose, allowing me to stimulate my clitoris without moving my labia out of the way like some flat vibrators do.
  • Crucially, the button is actually well placed. I’ve tried a very similar vibrator before and it had a button in a hard to reach position, requiring me to use my other hand to press it every time. This one’s button is within reach of my middle finger when holding the toy, but it’s so well placed that I never accidentally hit it.
  • It’s waterproof, which is always nice. I think this toy would be a fun addition to shower sex for those who enjoy it, as the grippy silicone wings help it stay in place between your fingers. (Funzze’s website describes the toy as “easy, non-slip control even when you’re wet and crazy.”) This is Great copy, baby!)

My business No Love this toy

  • Unfortunately, the biggest problem is the motor. It buzzes, meaning the vibrations are higher pitched and more superficial than I prefer, so I feel a bit numb after a minute or two, and orgasms are never as satisfying as they once were. However, stroking the vibrator up and down or in circles, like stroking it with a vibrating fingertip (which is probably how it’s intended to be used), can mitigate these effects somewhat—and again, I have to point out that this toy costs $30, so I understand why the motor isn’t that durable.
  • While there are 9 vibration settings, only the first 3 are steady vibrations, and they are very far apart; the next 6 are pattern vibrations, many of which are very erratic and distracting. You have to cycle through all 9 settings to get back to the first one, which is my personal pet peeve.
  • Although the buttons are well placed, I sometimes found them too difficult to press with one finger, which sometimes reduced the accessibility of the toy.
  • It’s a bit noisy, like a buzzing vibrator, especially on the highest setting.

Final Thoughts

If the Funzze Finger Vibe had a deep, roaring motor, it would immediately be relegated to the top drawer of my nightstand, where it would probably stay for a long time. The design of this toy is sleek and thoughtful, and I found it comfortable to use most of the time, which is not the case with many vibrators.

Although it’s sexy and understated in terms of size, shape and ergonomics, its buzzing motor and noticeable noise levels put the car off a bit.

But I think that for $30, the Finger Vibe is a fair deal, and I’ve always wanted to see more companies make sex toys that are accessible to a wide range of people—not just those with disabilities, but those with financial conditions. To that end, I think this little vibrator is pretty exciting and could add some excitement to a lot of people’s sex lives without breaking the bank or breaking their fingers.
