The bronze box is shaped like a temple found in Romania –

A bronze box shaped like the facade of a temple was found on the site of a Roman settlement in Turda, central Romania. It dates back to the late 2nd and early 3rd centuries AD and is a unique object in the archaeological records of Dacia, the Roman province.

The artifact was excavated this year in Legrio v. Macedonia’s Canabae Legion (a civilian settlement that appeared outside the Roman military fortress). It was found in a building in a civilian residential area. The coffin is complete, with a detailed temple facade and is equipped with columns, gables and architectural decoration.

The restored archaeological materials are substantial, including ornaments (glass bracelets and beads, copper rings), clothing accessories (skeleton hairpins, bronze belt decals), furniture parts and decorative elements (bronze tripod legs with spoiled decoration), as well as coins and worship objects. The most striking discovery is composed of a bronze box decorated with a decorative one on it, which illustrates the exterior wall of a temple, whose entire preservation – to date, on the territory of the Roman dacia – most likely to be used in religious settings! ”

On a tangent but fascinating note, Legio v Macedonia was founded by Octavian in 43 B.C. after the assassination of Julius Caesar and was one of the top 28 legions he raised. It is believed to have fought in the decisive battle of Octavian against Mark Anthony and Cleopatra (31 B.C.D.), before moving to Macedonia, where it obtained Monicker. The Legion served in Jewish, Musia and Dacia. Finally, it is mentioned in the Egyptian inscription on 635/6 that Islamic conquest of Egypt about a year before. This extraordinary record makes it the longest-lived Roman legion, covering 680 years from the first year of the Roman Empire to the end of the Eastern Empire’s control over North Africa, the Levant and Arabia.
