The bride finally said “yes” to the participation of the 43rd proposal
A possible fiancé walks through the ringtone and gives him his beloved ring.
After seven years and 42 rejections, a woman finally accepted her boyfriend’s proposal.
Sarah Wintrip, 38, finally said “yes” to her long-term patient companion Luke Wintrip, his 43rd attempt.
The couple got married on May 17, 2025, shocking many people with their unusual love story.
Sarah, 38, of Chelmsford, Essex, initially rejected Luke’s first proposal in 2018 after dating for just six months. Both have emerged from serious relationships lately, and despite being in love, Sarah hasn’t made another commitment that quickly, especially one involving her three daughters.
“I didn’t expect it.” She recalled the first proposal, which took place during the romantic horse riding in Jamaica. “I love him, but I don’t want to say ‘yes’ to what I’ve withdrawn later. I want to make sure I’m with the kids and everything is right. Luke said: ‘Okay, good, but I’m going to keep asking you,” she told Kennedy News.
Luke is a 36-year-old tattoo artist who didn’t avoid it. Each “no” he becomes more creative – proposed in abandoned castles, hiring musicians and performing candlelight suppers.
One of the most exquisite proposals took place in Prague, where Luke transformed a deserted castle into a fairy-tale setting that included chocolate, champagne and fairy-tale lights. But even then, Sarah rejected him.
“I know it’s too early, but I just know she’s that,” Luke said. “My friend said to me, ‘You want to beat her,’ but that’s not. I want to prove to her how much I want, and I hope one day the girls will look at it and go.
The clips of Luke’s repeated proposals – including in the restaurant where Sarah shyly buried her head in her hands, another on the busy street – broadcast the virus on Tiktok. Titled “43 Suggestions, Now We Are Getting Married in Two Weeks” has attracted thousands of viewers.
Sarah tells Luke to stop proposing and wait for the right moment, and Sarah finally said it in 2023. That moment was in Greenwich, London – where the Eastern Hemisphere meets the Western Hemisphere, forming the basis of the average time zone of Greenwich – a hired street artist played all her favorite songs.
“When he made a suggestion, he said, ‘This is the center of the world, you are the center of my world, I want you to marry me.” He finally won my heart.”
Sarah is now happily married, reflecting on her decisions without regret, and encouraging other women to believe in their timing: “If they were that person, they would put in their efforts. If you are not ready, you don’t have to say ‘yes’, you can say ‘yes’
Sarah joked: “I think he probably deserves the Guinness World Record. I’m grateful that he’s stuck for a long time.”
