Tea, women’s app, can safely talk about the men they date

Tea, an app designed to allow women to safely discuss men they date, has been subjected to thousands of selfies and exposure of user photo ID cards, the company confirmed on Friday.

Tea said about 72,000 images leaked online, including 13,000 selfies or selfies images that have a photo logo that users submitted during account verification.

According to a tea spokesperson, the app also does not authorize access to another 59,000 images in posts, comments and direct messages.

The company said that no email address or phone number accessed, and the violation will only affect users registered by February 2024.

“TEA has been involved in third-party cybersecurity experts and is working around the clock to secure its systems,” the company said. “At present, there is no evidence that other user data has been affected. Protecting tea households’ privacy and data is its highest priority.”

Tea’s App Store Defficne said: “Tea is an essential app that can help women avoid red flags before first date advice and show them the profile of who is really behind the person they are dating.”

The 404 media reported the breach earlier, saying it was 4chan users who discovered a naked database that “allowed anyone to get material from tea.”

“While reporting this story, the URL posted by the 4chan user contains a large list of specific attachments related to the Tea App. 404 Media saw this file list. In the last hour or so, the page was locked and now returns a “license denial” error, 404 Media reported on Friday.

Tea said in an Instagram post this week that it has attracted 4 million users.
