Gao Shi defends remarks about Taiwan

The article quoted Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae’s remarks on the Taiwan issue last Friday. Takaichi, who took office in October after Shigeru Ishiba resigned, claimed that if China imposed a naval blockade on Taiwan, it could pose an “existential threat to the situation” and force Japan to respond. She added, “The situation in Taiwan has become serious. We must prepare for the worst.”

As expected, Kihara had a different view. He said: “Although the intention may not be clear, it must be pointed out that such remarks are very inappropriate coming from the head of China’s diplomatic mission abroad.” George Glass, the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, was more direct in his criticism of Xue. On X, he Wrote“The mask has slipped again. Just a few months ago, @xuejianosaka compared Israel to Nazi Germany. Now, he threatens Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae and the people of Japan.”
