Splitup’s new data is an app that helps people navigate divorces, which shows that recently married couples hope to quit when the summer comes.

The app analyzes searches for Google Trends Analytics “Divorce Attorneys” from June 2020 to June 2025. The team has found that search volumes for the semester have increased by 4,950% (the highest in five years) in the past three months.

Divorce lawyers often cut jobs for them on their first working Monday of the year (formally known as the “divorce day”), a time when many couples hope to break up after the last straw during a busy holiday.

But it seems that summer may be a new era when couples take off their wedding rings and talk to each other.

According to Splitup, there were 30,600 searches for divorce lawyers in June 2024 – a 13% increase from January of the same year.

Psychologist Dr. Danielle Forshee explains the logic behind this new trend: “The increase in sunlight can change your brain, resulting in more summer than ever.”

It is said that summer also allows for smooth transitions after separation.

“There is a good separation [for married couples]Summer divorce helps alleviate children’s transition and reduces disruption. When they break up from school, they have time to deal with their emotions and get used to new life arrangements before returning. ” Forshee said.

“In addition, summer work may be quieter due to client vacations and internationally extended summer breaks, reducing traffic or business inquiries. This often leads to flexible work schedules for couples, thus leaving more time to settle after a split or divorce.”

According to Fauci, it’s not just Americans who want some fun in the warmer months — Singapore, South Africa, Canada and the UK have also seen a surge in summer divorces, “hinting at global relationship changes this summer.”

If you are a happy married couple and don’t want to break up this season, be sure to avoid common mistakes that divorce lawyers often see in marriage.

Never prioritize your children and marriage.

“You must never prioritize your career,” Padideh Jafari, founder and CEO of the Office of Law and Mediation, told Business Insider.

Another mistake people make is to make social media appealing to them.

“From reconnecting with the old flame to secret information, social media is intensifying modern divorces,” experts said.

“Social media makes us think the grass may be greener elsewhere,” she said.

“But, as a married person, you should consider your own home – watering and fertilizing your own lawn to make it beautiful with your spouse.”

Hurrying to romance is another thing, and those who often get married do it.

“If you’re going to be together forever, there’s no reason to get married quickly. Instead, spend some time meeting your spouse in different seasons of life (literally and figuratively).”
