Karoline Borega was born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After leaving her hometown to complete her undergraduate studies, she was appointed as a victim advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Part of her job responsibilities require a ride in her hometown with the police station. She hardly knew that this incident would change the trajectory of her life. During a long ride, Caroline meets an officer who later becomes her husband. The two welcomed the two children and seemed to have lived an idyllic life together for 25 years. On Monday afternoon in spring 2022, Caroline’s husband Joel revealed that he was terminating as a lieutenant from the Colorado Springs Police Department. He revealed a dual life of sexual addiction that included having sexual contact with colleagues, family and friends and people he met in his police car. Joel’s employer arranged for him to participate in a rehabilitation program in Laguna Beach, California; however, Joel continued to engage in abnormal sexual behavior, and more dual life continued to reveal to Caroline and his two young children. His employer allowed Joel to retire without consequences or charges. Caroline was betrayed not only by Joel, but also by the police force. Caroline filed for divorce.
