Someone please tell me a higher quality version…

Many years ago my idiot teenage boyfriend and I bought a CAW kit, the process was a real disaster for a pair of overly enthusiastic 19 year olds, but we got the end result. That being said, I could never forget that it was an extremely hard, noxious chemical smelling monster that had a terrible texture, was extremely heavy, and was not flexible at all. That being said, now that I’m in my 30s, my husband told me out of the blue that it would be fun to make one. I assured him I was willing and “will look into it.” Someone please tell me how much improved the CAW kit has been, point me to a better brand of similar product, or guide me if I can get the materials to make a nice product myself?
