Single Millennial Woman Is Bored With Her Life

Ashanti, 36, went on camera to explain why she believes married women can become self-centered.

Enough is enough!

A single girl’s opinion that married women are “self-centered” is going viral – and there’s no denying she has some truth to her point.

Ashanti, who goes by @unpunishablewoman on TikTok, has hundreds of videos on her page about being single and how to best cope with everything that comes with it. While many of them are informative and helpful, one video in particular has resonated with thousands of other single women.

Remember that famous episode of Sex and the City? After her expensive Manolo Blahnik shoes were stolen at a baby shower when guests were asked to take off their shoes, Kylie wondered why single women couldn’t have the same gift registry as soon-to-be brides or mothers?

Ashanti expressed similar sentiments in one of her videos, where she accused married women of not investing as much in the lives of their single friends.

But on the other hand, unmarried women are expected to invest time, energy, and money into married or parent friends by attending events like bachelorette parties and baby showers—a frustrating reality that many single women can relate to.

“Single women should forgive their married female friends anything. We should be understanding, available, and accessible. We should support them through the life events they go through—pregnancies, proposals, engagements, destination weddings,” she notes in the introduction to the video, which currently has more than 200,000 views.

“But married women rarely, if ever, actually allocate time and investment to the life events of their single friends, whether it’s a promotion, a career change, a move, a trip, or any other achievement that has nothing to do with men, having children…” she explains.

Ashanti went on to explain that when a single woman gets together with her married friend (who is also a mother), she often gets distracted by other things besides the conversation at hand.

Thousands of other single, childless women in the comments section agreed, proving a common theme in adult female friendships.

“Single and childless women must<社区>Sacrifices are made, but the community never reciprocates. “

“Single women are always expected to check on their married friends who are pregnant or already have kids. Checking in on people should go both ways. Also, just because you’re pregnant doesn’t make my accomplishment any less important.”

“That’s why I stopped sharing my vulnerabilities with my married friends because I realized it was more of entertainment than genuine caring.”

They talk endlessly about their lives and their kids, but if you say a word about yourself, they look at their phones or interrupt you. It’s disgusting.
