Letting go of secrets can set you free to move toward a different, better life.

For most recovering sex and porn addicts, creating an unmanageable and unmanageable list is the easiest part of Step 1 of the job. The more difficult part is sharing these lists with other recovering sex and porn addicts – often as part of 12-step sexual recovery meetings. For sex and porn addicts, telling the truth is unnatural and we generally don’t want to do it. Yet sharing our histories of addiction and its consequences relieves us of the burden of compartmentalizing our behaviors and carries the heavy burden of internalized shame.
