We must embrace pain and use it as fuel for our journey.

In the early days of sexual abstinence, even the smallest annoyance can feel like a big problem. Without our go-to coping mechanism (compulsive sexual behavior), we tend to overreact and explode. We are angry at ourselves and others, we cry, we are afraid, we are lonely, etc. So we’re not always having fun in early recovery. This is our (mostly emotional rather than physical) form of withdrawal. If we find ourselves going through this, it is important that we talk about our feelings with a supporter who understands sex and porn addiction and the recovery process. Uncontrolled withdrawal symptoms can lead not only to sex and porn addiction relapse, but also to depression, anxiety, irritability, and similar problems.
