Many people believe that sex and pornography addictions are not as serious as “real” addictions (i.e., substance addictions). In fact, this is not the case. Sex and porn addiction brings the same type and degree of suffering as alcohol and drug addiction – relationship problems, work or school problems, decreased physical and/or emotional health (depression, anxiety, loss of self-esteem, etc.), emotional and physical isolation, financial difficulties, loss of interest in previously enjoyable activities, legal troubles, and more.
