Sarah Michelle Gellar blames the decline of lasting relationships on changing social values.

The 47-year-old actress, who has two children with Freddie Prinze Jr., 48, celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in September.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Gellar reflected on the secrets of a lasting marriage alongside her “Pornographic” co-star Patrick Gibson.

“I think everything takes work on your part, whether it’s a friendship, a work relationship or a marriage,” the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star said.

“You have to put in the work,” she continued. “We live in an extremely casual society now.”

“Your phone breaks and you can’t fix it. You get a new one,” Gellar added. “I think that’s how people approach relationships.”

“I don’t know, maybe a separate bathroom,” the actress joked.

Gellar and Prinze first met while filming the 1997 hit horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer and began dating in 2000.

The couple announced their engagement in 2001 and tied the knot a year later in Mexico, when Gellar was 24 and Prinze was 26.

Ahead of their wedding, Prinze Jr. appeared on “The Howard Stern Show,” where the shocked athlete made a million-dollar bet that their marriage wouldn’t go very far.

“So you’re marrying Sarah Michelle Gellar even though you know it won’t last?” Stern asked.

“Oh, it’s definitely going to last,” Prinze Jr. replied.

“I want to make a written bet with you,” the radio host told him. “In about ten years, you’re going to hunt me down and say, ‘Howard, I owe you money.'”

On their 20th wedding anniversary, Gellar uploaded a screenshot of the interview on her Instagram Story.

“@SternShow I think you owe us,” she wrote via Us Weekly .

Prinze Jr. later shared Gellar’s post on his Instagram Story, writing, “She won’t forget,” along with two laughing and crying emojis.

In a 2019 interview with Us Weekly, Gellar told the outlet that “communication” was the key to their successful marriage.

“It’s important to live in the moment,” the New York native said. “Listening is the most important thing.”

“We still make each other laugh. We respect each other,” Prinze Jr. added. He noted that he “didn’t go on another date” after the two shared their first kiss.

“It’s just Sarah,” he gushed to the magazine.

The couple also co-starred in 2002’s Scooby-Doo and the 2004 sequel Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, and welcomed their first child, daughter Charlotte Grace, in 2009 .

In 2012, Gellar gave birth to their son, Rocky James.

Gellar and Prinze Jr. both first rose to fame in the 1990s and became two of the biggest stars of their era.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Gellar shared her thoughts on how celebrity life was different in the ’90s than it is today.

“I would say the advent of social media and everyone having camera phones,” she said. “I think you have more anonymity, and sometimes I think that makes it a little easier to tell stories because people don’t quite know your every move or even your performance.”

The actress stars in Showtime’s new series “Dragon: Original Sin,” which premieres on December 13.

“But it’s also like remembering that thing,” he added. “I think what we’re trained as actors is to have empathy on set. And you’re working with some of the best actors ever.”

“And remind yourself not to be too affected by what’s going on and that you’re more calculating than you appear. It’s a little bit of a challenge.”
