Some sex and porn addicts experience the opposite of withdrawal in early recovery. This is called Honeymoon or Pink CloudThese lucky individuals find that as they embark on the road to recovery, they suddenly lose all desire to perform. They become fascinated by the insights they are developing and are excited about finally having found a solution to their deepest problems. This temporary phase of early recovery is great while it lasts. However, sex and porn addicts who “ride the pink cloud” should be aware that their desire to perform will return, and may return stronger than ever. If not anticipated and prepared, it is easy to relapse or think that something has gone wrong in recovery. In reality, there is no need to relapse, and there is nothing wrong with recovery. It is a normal part of the process; the addict is simply experiencing a delayed withdrawal.
