Physical toy stores are heartbreaking

There are a total of two sex shops in my town, one basically only sells lingerie and the other sells sex toys, what’s the problem? Before joining this group, I bought a total of two toys in that store, I found one to be jelly-like, and the other I decided to do a flame test because I was suspicious of jelly-like toys, but surprisingly, it burned, leaving a bad smell after a slight burn, and now I’m sure I will never buy anything from that store again, except accessories. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to ask the best way to test toys, if I’m not wrong, one way is the flame test, if the toy melts that means it is made of unsafe material/not silicone, if it is silicone it won’t melt, is there any other way to check?
