Obsessive-compulsive disorder or addiction? -Sex and relationship therapy

The anticipation of pleasure can lead to sex and porn addiction. Happiness is the carrot and stick that keeps us going.
Sometimes it seems like anything, whether a substance or a behavior, can be addictive. This is not the case. For a substance or behavior to be addictive, it needs to trigger pleasurable neurobiological experiences that, over time, lead to similar pleasure-like anticipatory fantasies (what sex and porn addicts call Foam or Trance). Without this, a behavior may be compulsive, but it does not qualify as an addiction. Compulsive hand washing, for example, brings neither pleasure nor expected fantasies. Therefore, it is not an addiction. Instead, it is classified as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
