New York Bride Enjoys Dream Wedding at Grand Central Terminal

Meredith Giuliani always fantasized about saying “I do” at her wedding grand scale.

So, having a grand wedding at Grand Central Station is simply a gorgeous dream come true.

“We just thought, ‘How cool would it be to turn one of the most beautiful landmarks in New York into the centerpiece of our wedding?'” Giuliani, 32, of New Jersey’s Upper West Side, told The Washington Post, joking that the transportation hub served as the architectural “best man” of the event.

Giuliani is a strategy and operations manager at a technology startup and is not related to former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. He and his groom, David Garrett, 32, a corporate real estate professional, exchanged vows Oct. 11 in Vanderbilt Hall at Legends Terminal.

Hosted by NFL Hall of Famer and New York Giants veteran Harry Carson, the oversized show featured a 12-foot-tall floral installation, a gold mirrored floor, a harpist and fiddler duo, and a distressed ticket booth.

At a Giuliani-designed ticket booth, the couple’s 340 guests were given customized train tickets with seat assignments for their reception at top-notch hotspot Cipriani.

Giuliani told The Washington Post that the lavish couple are the first to officially transform Grand Central Terminal into a stunning wedding venue in more than a decade, and they’re doing it big, aiming to throw “the best party ever.”

“We have a great group of friends and family,” she said. “We want to make this an amazing experience for them.”

While the newlyweds chose not to disclose the cost of her New York extravaganza, Aaron Donovan, an MTA spokesman who oversees all operations at Grand Central Terminal, told The Washington Post that the price to rent Vanderbilt Hall could range from $25,000 to $40,000.

Price tags vary “depending on space and time required, [as well as the] “Logistics and staffing are needed to direct the public to trains,” he explained. “The additional expense of securing space controlled by a Central Station retailer, such as the Grand Brasserie at Vanderbilt Hall, could be more than double that cost.”

In fact, the couple does rent it out to limit commuter traffic during holy gatherings.

She said Giuliani’s parents were software procurement experts and her in-laws worked in health care administration, footing the bill for their behemoth business.

But before attendees dined on filet mignon and Chilean sea bass at the luxurious Cipriani, the stately bride walked down the aisle in a custom ball gown embellished with glitter and feathers by couturier Ysa Makino.

She and Garrett shared their first kiss as husband and wife under a vintage clock overlooking Vanderbilt Hall—the historic center’s main waiting room that is now a public event space. Built in 1913 and restored in 1998, the approximately 6,000-square-foot space features 55-foot ceilings and two gold chandeliers.

Donovan said lavish soirées like theirs were difficult to arrange.

“The MTA is excited to host weddings in Grand Central Station’s iconic Vanderbilt Hall, but they face challenges with support due to the need to allow continued public access,” he said.

David Florio, the MTA’s chief real estate transactions and operations officer, told The Washington Post that couples considering a wedding at Grand Central Station should start making arrangements at least 11 months in advance.

Giuliani began planning her chic soiree at the Midtown Miracle in September 2024, just months after Garrett proposed last May on the island along the West Side Highway.

The millennial said she insisted her boyfriend propose in a popular spot where passers-by would pop the question. oh and Ahhh In that touching scene. She recreated that “look at me” moment on her special day last week, taking photos in front of Grand Central Station’s 42nd Street and Park Avenue entrance and inside the station’s main concourse.

“We love it when strangers take photos and videos of us,” gushed Giuliani, who soon changed her last name to Garrett. “It was very positive – people congratulated us, complimented me on my outfit and wished us all the best for the future.”

She cherishes the memory, which is her and Garrett’s way of sharing their love with the borough they fell in love with. The honeymoon couple plans to go to the Maldives for their honeymoon next month.

“We’re very grateful to the city,” Giuliani said. “We’re so grateful and honored to be able to do this really crazy and unique thing in a city that means so much to us.”
