New manga chronicles the life of gaming legend Masahiro Sakurai

Big news for gaming fans: East Press is about to release a new biographical manga about legendary gaming creator Masahiro Sakurai, the genius behind all-time classics such as Kirby’s dreamland and Super Smash Bros. If you’ve ever wanted to know more about the man who gave you some of your fondest childhood memories, now’s your chance.

The title of the Japanese book is Manga de Shiru Hito to Shigoto: Masahiro Sakurai – Making the world more interesting with gamesis the latest issue of “Manga de Shiru Hito to Shigoto” (Learn about people and work through comics) series. It chronicles Sakurai’s life and traces his path to becoming a globally renowned game creator.

This book is more than just a standard biography; it’s an educational manga that delves into Sakurai’s professional journey and personal history. Sakurai personally oversaw the development of the book, ensuring its authenticity. Readers will follow his early path, from when he first fell in love with gaming, to the untold story behind the creation and development of the original game. A journey through gaming history

The core story is divided into six chapters covering key milestones in Sakurai’s life. The narrative begins with an exploration of “young Sakurai and Yugi,” detailing his early passion for the medium. It then chronicles the origins of one of his first masterpieces in the chapter “The Birth of Kirby’s Dreamland!”

The story begins in the massive fighting series Super Smash Bros., with “Super Smash Bros. Dawn” as the focus. Following these successes, the manga explores Sakurai’s business adventures through “The Founding of Sora Ltd.!” as he enters a new phase of independence. The final two chapters reflect on his legacy, examining “what has been inherited” in his work, and looking toward “the light of the future.” The volume ends with a special postscript written by Sakurai.

In addition to the main manga, the 160-page book contains supplementary text columns to enrich readers’ understanding of Sakurai and the broader video game industry. These informative sections include “Sakurai Masahiro’s Chronology,” an in-depth look at “Game Creation Work,” and “Want to Know More! In-Depth Report.”
