I’m male and recently bought a silicone (I believe) dildo for anal use. I’ve been cleaning it with water and dish soap but the smell is still there. I know the best way to avoid getting it dirty is to clean where I put it but I can’t really do that safely since I don’t have the tools to do so. Cleaning up isn’t a problem, I just hate the smell so much it’s really causing a depressive episode. My best idea is to put it in a sealed bag or something with soapy water for a while because if it absorbs… well, it will absorb the soapy water. But this is my first toy so I don’t know and I need to keep this a secret since I live with other people. I’m sorry if I’m being stupid and thank you in advance.

If it truly is silicone then you should be able to boil it in a pot of water
I used to work for a toy manufacturer (rhymes with “Schmantus”) and we always advised to air it. If your toy is actually silicone then it won’t absorb soap but really what it needs is airflow and time. Keeping it closed up in a plastic bag (which a lot of folks do out of shame) won’t help.
I really hope you’re not depressed, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with owning and using a sex toy. I sold to literally thousands of consenting adults of all ages and genders across this entire country.

Boiling is a good way to get smells out of dildos. If the dildo is small enough, you can literally boil it in an electric kettle, which you can keep in your room and use discreetly.
Don’t listen to people, there’s lots of ways to get smells out of dildos, try the boiling first since that’s simplest and lmk if that worked.

Silicone although being nonporous will still absorb the smells from anal use. No amount of washing will dissipate it. Even though the silicone is technically sterilized it can retain the oils I believe. Nobody knows exactly how it works. These smells will offgas after a few weeks and you will no longer be able to smell them. Silicone toys pick up almost all smell when they come in direct contact with fecal matter. A good enema or pooping before playing will fix this. Now I try to clean out as best as I can beforehand and I have no prob with odors anymore
