Nature Alliance loses majority in House of Lords elections
A record 26 million people voted in Sunday’s House of Lords election, which fell into the mid-day holiday. For the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Komeito’s ruling coalition, there are 50 magical numbers. They need to get 125 seats in the majority, 75 of which did not participate in the election. In the end, they missed three.
It was a major blow to the ruling coalition, which also lost control of the stronger House of Commons last October. Freelance Consulting led an alliance that could not control the two houses for the first time in its 70-year history. Now, they will need the support of at least one opposition party to pass any legislation. All major opposition parties refused to join their alliance.

Although the results are not bad
There is no doubt that after two consecutive election results, there is no doubt that more and more people are calling for Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba to step down. One of his most voiced critics in the party is Taro Aso, who served as prime minister from 2008 to 2009. He told the station that he “can’t accept” Ishiba’s role as prime minister. However, this person himself insisted that he was not ready to go.
Speaking at the NHK two hours after the polls ended, Ishiba said he accepted the “harsh results” “solidly.” He later told Tokyo TV: “We have extremely important tariff negotiations with the United States…we must not undermine these negotiations. Naturally, we are fully dedicated and energetic to achieve our national interests.” When asked if he plans to continue as prime minister, he replied: “Yes.”

The rise of populist parties
Meanwhile, Japan’s main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party won only 22 seats, up from 38. It was also a disappointing election for the Japanese Innovation Party, which dropped from 18 to 7. The famous proceeds in the election are provided to the Democratic Opposition parties such as the Democratic People (DPFP) and Sancito. Now, the former has 17 seats, from 9 seats, while the latter has won 14 seats. It is only held before the election.
Under the slogan of “Japan No. 1”, the super conservative right-wing party is led by Sohei Kamiya. “If Sancito wins 50 or 60 seats in the next House of Commons elections, I think it’s possible to form a coalition government with small parties in the future, such as Europe (European Government). (Sanseito)’s goal is to be part of it.”
The party can submit a bill that does not work hard in the House of Lords after more than 10 seats. It aims to have 20 seats, which is the minimum requirement for submitting budget statements. Kamiya has repeatedly pointed out that Sanseito is not a xenophobic party. “Please understand, we do not intend to exclude foreign workers here legally. We just believe that cheap foreign labor is not right,” he said in a speech at the FCCJ earlier this month.
