My new tattoo is so romantic 💖 – Girly Juice

It’s no secret that I love hearts, pink and red things, and the whole lovecore aesthetic. I mean, I just wrote a whole blog post last week about the pink and red outfits I designed to wear with pink and red dildos… and let’s just say, I’m a fan of these colors!

I think what appeals to me more about Lovecore’s look than its pretty colors is the emphasis on love and romance. They are very important topics in my life – I mean, I have an entire blog category dedicated to them! Love and romance have guided me to many of my greatest joys and happiest days – not just because romance itself is fun and exhilarating, but because Secret love encourages growth!

If you are someone who has experienced attraction (sexual, romantic, or otherwise), you may remember a time when you wanted to impress the person you were attracted to, or even just want to get to know them on a deeper level— In this endeavor, you research a topic that’s unfamiliar to you, or consume media you’d never stumble upon, or discover a whole new side of yourself character You never knew existed. Whether or not our attractions “expand” into “more” (which we always have no control over anyway), they still pull us toward who we want to be, and I think that’s amazing.

As we age, every heartbreak and rejection makes it harder for us to continue pursuing love and connection. It seems increasingly scary to go out into the world and take huge, reckless risks with all your heart—gosh, wouldn’t it be easier to stay at home on the couch, numb with Netflix, and live vicariously through the love of others ? ? (If you feel called, trust me, I will call myself even more!)

It takes a concerted effort to resist this urge to self-isolate. In finance or business, risk aversion may be a prudent approach, but when it comes to relationships, it’s rarely the right impulse because relationships by their nature require a certain level of risk. The “finding someone to date” part is dangerous and scary, the “actually going on a date” part is dangerous and scary, and the “emotionally and physically opening yourself up to new people” part is dangerous and scary. really Risky and scary… but when those risks pay off, it’s like winning the emotional jackpot.

Anyway, this has all been on my mind for a long time, especially since the pandemic started. Self-isolation has never been easier. Avoiding relationship risks has never been easier. But I don’t want to do that. So I got a new tattoo to remind me that rolling the dice on love is always worth it.

My friend Addison Finch is a brilliant artist. You may know him as the creator of the current Dildorks album cover, the Making Magic album cover, the Funkit Toys Random Encounters sex dice illustrations, or any of the many other projects he’s done in the sex positivity space. He is also a tattoo artist, so when he mentioned to me that he was visiting my city and making a guest appearance at a local tattoo shop, I knew immediately that I wanted to get some of his art tattooed on my skin!

I considered a few different possibilities, but kept coming back to an idea I’d seen represented by a variety of different illustrators over the years (including RubyRoller-Art, xPixelPerfect, and Eidalfina): a pink die decorated with red hearts. To me, this perfectly sums up my current love and romance goals: rolling the dice. Take risks. See what happens.

After some discussion about layout and placement, Addison drew a design in his own style for me to see and I loved it. He started tattooing it on me and we talked for hours about life, love, quirks, and art. When I saw the finished ink on my arm, it immediately felt right—almost like it had always been there.

I’m not the bravest person in the world when it comes to love (or anything else). But I hope this tattoo will give me a kick when I need it, a reminder that love may hurt, it may surprise me, it may even explode in my face – but it’s always, always worth it The dice player is here.
