Luxurious care for your scalp
Traveling is exciting; traveling in Tokyo is exciting. But even in the heart of one of the busiest cities in the world, the mind and body still need time to slow down. In recent years, head spas have grown from a quiet niche to a popular relaxation, beauty and wellness ritual. Thanks to Japan’s meticulous attention to detail, the experience feels deeply rejuvenating—which might just make you book your next flight back.
Here are some of our recommendations for head spas in Tokyo.

Choose relaxation and Spain, my dear
Lino Relaxation Spa Expertise in clay, combined with mastery of massage, truly sets it apart. During the treatment, staff apply organic white clay to the scalp; said to be rich in minerals and nutrients Promote cell renewal. Although clay and organic products are often thought of as drying out hair, Lino uses a deeply hydrating formula that leaves hair smooth and soft. All treatments have organic notes Products that can be purchased in stores.
From the moment you enter, it’s a relaxing experience. Your head spa specialist will speak in a quiet voice during your consultation and provide you with an English guide to your treatment plan. For those of you curious about looking at the condition of your scalp under a microscope, here’s your chance (though be warned – it may shock you). From the consultation room you will be directed to the spa room. The service is top-notch—unlike a typical head spa service, where a heated neck towel is used at the beginning of the treatment, Lino’s staff replaces the towels midway through, restoring comfortable warmth when the towels begin to fade.
After the treatment, you will be moved to another room and given a menu with a variety of teas. You can relax and enjoy a drink while your expert blow-dries your hair. After blow-drying, you can also choose to straighten or curl your hair. Finally, your scalp is put under the microscope again and you can see how it changes.
Lino Relaxing & Spa is a 7-minute walk from Nakameguro Station, and staff recommends visiting on weekdays. You can make an appointment via DMing Instagram (English and Japanese) or via Chili Beauty. The salon can accommodate groups of up to three people and accepts same-day bookings.

Kokage, Gotanda
Following the success XiaoyingThe head spa opened its first store in Fukuoka in 2022 and a branch in Tokyo in July 2024. Specializing in ultra-high concentration hydrogen treatments, acid heat treatments and customized scalp treatments, this is a truly healing and rejuvenating space.
Upon entry, you will be directed to a locker to keep your belongings secure during your treatment. Once your goods are safely stowed away, staff will offer you a variety of free drinks — From hot coffee to frozen collagen juice. You’ll then be directed to one of three private rooms for a consultation, where a head spa specialist will carefully assess the condition of your scalp and hair before recommending the products she uses in your treatment. Products used are from Shiseido Sublimic Series that uses special technologies to reshape, moisturize and protect scalp and hair.
Kokage’s most popular treatment is the 90-minute Head Soak Improvement Treatment Course. In addition to various hair treatments, this course also includes a head massage that will leave you feeling warm for hours — Just like the lasting effects of a sauna. In the middle of the treatment, the expert will start the “hot spring experience”. As pictured above, a soft, warm stream of water pours down onto your head, leaving you in a state of pure bliss. Paired with relaxing rainforest background music, it feels like you’re leaning back and letting your head soak in a warm, rippling stream.
After treatment, the expert will blow-dry your hair and straighten it to silky perfection. And when they do, they’ll offer tips for keeping your hair and scalp at their healthiest.
Kokage is an 8-minute walk from Gotanda Station, and the staff recommends going on weekdays. The salon can accommodate groups of up to three people and accepts same-day bookings. Men are also welcome but must be accompanied by a woman as all staff are female and this policy is in place for safety reasons. You can make an appointment online or via Chili Beauty.

Rabikul, Ginza
Step into another world in rabbi kuleach room is designed to engage all five senses, taking you on a gentle restorative journey. The Ginza store has a “Forest Magic” theme, giving it a feel that comes straight from Studio Ghibli. The concept of the Tokyo flagship store is “immersive aqua”, with a futuristic white stone design. Both interiors come to life through carefully curated colors, scents, sounds and textures.
One of the most unique features of Rabicour is that you can book rooms by theme, choosing an atmosphere that suits your mood. Popular rooms such as Xin Haicheng (deep sea) or meteor (shooting stars) form a cocoon in lower light, perfect for relaxing after a long day. In my session I was placed in bihou (microbubble) room, it looked like I had walked into a living painting.
Choosing the time for a head spa feels a bit like goldilocks and the three bears: 30 minutes is too short, 120 minutes is too long. In this case, 90 minutes is just right. After changing into a towel, I was directed to a chair for a brief consultation. Soon after comes the highlight of the treatment: a waterfall bath (similar to the spa experience discussed above). Unlike anything I have experienced before, the waterfall alternates dramatically between hot and cold streams, a contrast that is both exhilarating and deeply soothing. The feeling is as refreshing as taking a swig of water after a walk in the desert.
The session ended with a sensitive-skin-friendly scalp spray, followed by some tailored advice from my expert, who suggested a simple ear-pull exercise to relieve tension in the back of my head. The treatment ended with a professional blow-dry and styling while I drank a cup of warm hawberry berry tea, leaving me relaxed, refreshed and ready to take on the world again.
Rabicour has two branches in Tokyo. The Ginza store is an 11-minute walk from Ginza Station and a 5-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station. Reservations can be made online or via Instagram; English-speaking customers are encouraged to contact the salon at Instagram Leave a message directly. Staff will then provide a dedicated link to complete the booking. Reservations are accepted up to 1 month in advance and early booking is recommended.
