A survey conducted by Censuswide on behalf of Lelo, in-depth study How different generations perceive and utilize technology in their personal relationships to gain insight into generational transformations, evolving attitudes, and potential future trends.

Based on this, Lelo talks with Tom Cheeswright, an applied futurist.

• Although people feel that attitudes towards sex and technology have not changed much, the reality is that there has been a radical change in the past 20 years.
• Future generations will define intimacy in the form of AI avatars and mixed reality. Despite the increasing technology, there is a continued preference for “simulating” human connections.
• The integration of AI and robotics in intimate relationships raises ethical issues such as isolation, unrealistic expectations, and robotic rights issues, all of which require research and potential regulation.
• Increased technical dependence on technology and physical needs is a problem. While not bad in nature, it poses risks like unrealistic expectations and isolation. Mitigation may involve regulation and education, while distinguishing between isolation and connection technologies.
• Digital dating/connection scenarios are becoming increasingly fragmented, and AI tools are needed to browse the wall and find compatible partners.
• Technology will help people find partners and build common interests that have the potential to impact the development and maintenance of leisure encounters and long-term partnerships.

Some say that technology affects almost every aspect of our lives in a positive and negative way, including our sexual behavior. Understanding these effects is crucial to the complex interactions between navigation technology and gender. There is no doubt that technology will continue to be a significant factor in this regard, but it remains to be seen whether the role will grow exponentially. Lelo will continue to research and encourage dialogue.
