Kirby takes over the Kansai Railway of the new cute train

Nintendo’s beloved pink fluffy ball is taking over the railway in the Kansai area. Last Friday, the Hankyu Railway launched a special Kirby-themed train that transforms commuters’ daily trips into a colorful stellar ride. Continuing until March 17, 2026, the collaboration covers Kobe, Takao and Kyoto Lines, blending classic Japanese train culture with one of the country’s cutest video game characters.

From the exterior to interior seat stickers, each train is decorated with a playful Kirby design. Passengers will find exclusive illustrations unique to each route, giving fans a reason to try multiple routes. Kirby Plush also joined the crew cabin companions.

In addition to the experience, selected radio stations and shopping facilities along the route are playing Kirby music arrangements, including specially arranged train-style themes. From September to November, riders can also attend stamp gatherings, collect stamps at different radio stations and exchange them for limited edition items such as rubber magnets and Kirby acrylic clocks.

To make the ride sweeter, Hanniao has issued a special one-day pass decorated with Kirby artwork that works on Hanniao and Nose Electric Rail. A pop-up store at Tokyo Station Ichibangai will also be operating from September 19 to October 2, giving fans in the capital a chance to grab exclusive merchandise. With a variety of products, music and immersive trains, the collaboration is a moving theme park for Kirby fans.
