Meet Kawasaki’s horse robot Corleo
Robots represent a bold vision for future transportation choices. Kawasaki Heavy Industries proposed the concept at a press conference, positioning it as a convergence of the company’s motorcycle and robotics divisions. The prototype combines technologies from both business areas to create something completely new in the transportation sector.
The purpose of robot concept
“Carleo is a completely new mode of transportation that combines Kawasaki’s motorcycle and robotics technology. It’s something that only a comprehensive heavy industry manufacturer can come up with and bring it to life through active internal discussions.”
Corleo’s features and technologies
Design and operation
The four-legged robot is about the size of a large motorcycle and is designed to ride like a horse. The rider step across the machine and controls it through weight transfer, creating an intuitive riding experience. The Corleo runs on a hydrogen engine, highlighting Kawasaki’s commitment to exploring alternative power supplies.
Technological innovation
What makes Corleo particularly innovative is that it uses a swing arm mechanism (usually used to connect the motorcycle frame to the rear wheel and absorb vibration). This adaptability allows the robot to travel in rough terrain with significant stability, thus making mountainous areas and other areas inaccessible to traditional vehicles.
Osaka 2025 Exhibition and Exhibition
While Corleo will be featured at the Osaka-Kansas Expo, visitors can only see the model version, rather than the fully-featured prototype.
The future of Corleo
Despite its impressive features, Kawasaki has said No plan Commercialize Corleo or grow it into a business. The robot is still a concept designed to inspire imagination and demonstrate technological possibilities, rather than a product planned to be produced.
The Osaka-Kensis Expo, originally scheduled for 2025, will feature numerous technological innovations from Japanese companies that demonstrate their future vision.
