Kristen Farris has a sixth sense when it comes to couples.

As a divorce attorney for nearly two decades, The New Yorker knows whether a newlywed couple is destined to fly off into the sunset or crash after takeoff.

When Faris discovered the star-crossed lovers, she gave them a wedding gift that was deemed “crazy.”

“If I really believed they were going to need it, I would put my business card on my wedding card,” the 39-year-old lawyer from the Hudson Valley told TikTok’s more than 774,000 viewers.

“I wouldn’t do that to someone I thought would last,” Farris said. “What I’m doing isn’t going to last.”

It’s the gift of farewell—right after “I do.”

However, based on recent divorce reports, Faris may not be handing out her contact information as frequently as she was before the COVID-19 pandemic.

In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), marriage rates in the United States have been steadily climbing since the start of the pandemic in 2020, especially in New York, while legal breakups have declined.

Unfortunately, however, divorce remains a national epidemic.

Experts at DivorceLawyers.ca say this is a serious problem plaguing couples in states like Delaware, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Kentucky.

But Faris treats her little parting The gift is like a joke.

“Obviously, people who invite me to weddings know what I do,” Farris explained to Newsweek , revealing that she has given her business card to star-crossed lovers at least “eight or 10” times.

“So, first I try to add a nice little note to their card that offers some advice in a joking way,” the litigator admitted. “Then I’ll write something witty like, ‘If things don’t work out and you need me in the future, please know that I’m only here for one of you.'”

Fortunately, her black sacred marriage humor is welcomed by most newlyweds.

“I almost always make them laugh, or they start arguing about who gets me first,” Farris said. “That’s usually my favorite.

“I have a lot of friends who tell their spouses they can’t get me divorced because they have me as their attorney.”

Farris went on to claim that the most obvious red flags of a relationship death are “lack of communication” and differences in life goals, such as having children or career choices.

“If they don’t talk about future options sooner rather than later, that’s a clear sign that they won’t make it through ten years,” she insisted, adding that constant criticism between the pair also pointed to an imminent breakup.

Although her intentions seemed pure, Faris was slammed by virtual viewers who thought her wedding gift warning wasn’t funny.

“Their wedding card is crazy,” said one unhappy commenter.

“This is so tacky,” another snarled. “I wouldn’t appreciate ‘friends’ doing this.”
