In a video shared by content creator @PaperMishe, a man can be seen getting down on one knee to propose to his beloved outside 1221 Avenue of the Americas (near Rockefeller Center).

The area was decorated with holiday decorations, including sparkling lights and a large Christmas tree – from which a mouse burst out during the proposal.

“If it were me, that rat would ruin the whole proposal because I’d be running down the block,” one creepy commenter quipped on a video of the four-legged furry pest taking photos of the romantic moment.

“This rat is so New York,” another quipped.

Sorry, pizza rat. The Proposal Rats are launching an attack on New York City.

To date, the identities of the couple and the rat remain unknown.

But while the Proposal Rat may have ruined the picturesque “Will You Marry Me?” sex.

“This rat really made me realize that this is a New York love story,” one fan of The Disruptors commented.

“The rat is the clue that raises the question,” teased an equally amused onlooker.

Another joked that she was a “real-life Cinderella,” comparing her new fiancée to a fairy tale princess whose pet rat helped her achieve her dream relationship.

“Rats are part of the New York experience,” cheered one proud Gothamite.
