I was bullied by my wedding guests — here’s why I cancelled my invitation25
Talk about a witch hunt.
A bride-to-be has disinvited 25 friends and family from her Halloween wedding after her mother and grandmother branded the October event “evil”.
The troubled bride recently complained on the Reddit forum that the devil has been hiding in the details for two full years because the All Hallows’ Eve event was announced long ago, leaving haters ample time to launch a tirade against her.
But just six weeks before the ceremony, some people have stirred controversy.
“All of a sudden my mom and grandma think this wedding is evil and want me to change it at the last minute,” the woman wrote, adding that her answer was “a firm no.”
In retaliation, about half of the relatives on the mother’s side “thought they were cute and said they wouldn’t come” because of what the bride called a “power struggle.”
Instead of being awed by their cruelty, the bride disinvited the group, including one of her sisters who was serving as maid of honor, becoming the de facto grim reaper.
She further exorcised her demons and extended an “uninvited invitation” to the twenty or so people who were crying and sobbing.
The bride even made sure the venue kept the skinny off the party — for which she planned to wear a “light blue zombie bride gown” with a matching hairstyle.
“My aunt (who was one of the people not invited) told me that people can disagree with me, but that doesn’t mean they can withdraw an invitation to a wedding they were planning to attend,” the bride wrote.
“I told my aunt they had two years to complain but to say you’re not going six weeks before my wedding is just bullshit… I’m not going to be bullied by my family over this.”
In the comments, many people said the bride shouldn’t be bothered by her actions.
“You’ve spent two years planning your wedding and it’s your big day. It’s understandable to be frustrated when people try to impose their beliefs on you at the last minute,” one said.
Another added: “They already said they weren’t coming, why are you complaining now?”
A third person addressed the monster concoction: “Hopefully having a good time with guests who aren’t assholes.”
