3 thoughts on “How long after a meal to douche for anal?

Food takes an average of 24 to 36 hours to work its way through the digestive system so the last few meals you had have no bearing on being “clean” for anal play/sex. Many people experience peristalsis (the movement of feces through the colon) 30 to 60 minutes after a meal and therefore have a BM shortly thereafter. After a BM would be the time to do a rectal douche if you feel it is necessary. If you have good eating habits and get plenty of fiber and hydration, you don’t necessarily need to douche unless you are squeamish and prefer it “surgery room clean” down there. 😉 Even then, there is no guarantee that things will always be completely clean, things are constantly moving through the digestive system.

So there are two types of enemas.

“Light” that basically just clean out the rectum. This is what most people do. Basically you’re squirting water a couple inches into the colon and cleaning out just the last 6-10 inches. If you’re going this route you generally want to do it 2-4 hours before sex. Because you want the water to be taken out of your colon by your body. Or you can have literal water in your colon that can leak a bit during activity

If you’re doing a “deep” clean, which pushes water much farther into the colon, and clean far deeper (generally not necessary unless you’re using really long “depth” toys. Then you clean yourself out 6-8 hours before engaging in activity, and don’t eat post enema.

But I second the statement that if you’ve had a good bowel movement a couple hours before sex, and have a diet high in fiber, you’re going to be generally pretty clean and don’t really need to use an enema to clean yourself out.
