Honesty in 12-step meetings – Sex and Relationship Rehabilitation

You can’t save your face and ass at the same time.

Many people have rehabilitated sexual and porn addicts worry that if they attend a 12-step meeting and tell the truth about their addiction, others will judge them and may even gossip them. And this can actually happen, although not usually. Instead, the vast majority of addicts will appreciate honesty. They also tend to identify with the feelings experienced (usually actual behavior). Typically, the 12-step recovery room is filled with empathy and support, not judgment. After all, at least some other person in the room might have done anything a gender or porn addict does.
