Holes in the soul

Addiction is an attempt to fill the internal gaps outside.

Sex and porn addicts have certain characteristics. One of these common traits is that even if we get the love of another person, which is not enough, we cannot stop pursuing others. This is usually the result of our inner shame and low self-esteem. We think we are not good enough and we are not worthy of true love and intimacy. Some of us describe it as “a loophole in the soul.” The hole was so wide and so deep that there was no single connection to others to fill. So we’re always looking for someone or someone else. What we don’t realize is that the only way to fill the gap is to work within us. There is no external repair in the soul. As part of the recovery and recovery process, we fight shame and damage self-image day after day. We do this by living honestly and with integrity. As time goes by, we begin to see ourselves as worthy of love and connection. We heal our self-image and suddenly, the connection we have is enough to fill the hole.
