Hakone’s Private Onsen Oasis
Japan is famous for its duality. In this country, young men in kimono dressed in kimono kick their smartphones off on their smartphones, while helpful business professionals bow to the roadside shrine. Here, the crazy energy of the main urban center juxtaposes the eternal tranquility of the idyllic hot spring escape, and generations of Japanese have retreated to heal the mind and body.
South of Tokyo, covered with dense forest hills and valleys, is one of them: Hakone. The region is known for its healing waters for centuries, and the region has become a legendary destination for those seeking relaxation in nature.
Espaacio Hakone Geihin is Rin-ryu. It is one of them. Founded in 2024, it consists of nine separate villas, cradles in a remote valley and accessible only via a private cable car. Each serves as his own little shelter, exclusively visiting the waters of Dogashima, one of Hakone’s seven legendary hot spring sources.
Each villa has exquisite amenities designed to transcend comfort and is decorated with sophisticated expressions of traditional Japanese craftsmanship, including Kumiko Woodwork, Karakami Paper and Urushi paint. Guests also experience the unparalleled Omotenashi of the Japanese hospitality spirit.
Hidden retreat, soothing hot spring
In the folk song “Hakone Hachiri”, the mountains in the area are described as very high and their valleys are incredible. Over the past few centuries, this solid terrain has been walked through Tokaido by countless people, the most important of the five highways connecting Edo (modern Tokyo) to other corners of the country.
Espacio’s upper level reception is a section along this historical route. The building is the gateway to retreat. Inside, you can find a copy of the samurai armor, which symbolizes worldly troubles, as the samurai once gave up on protective clothing. Suitable is that warriors and ordinary folks are soaked in these springs to caress their tired muscles.

From the reception above you will descend to one of Hakone’s famous cable car deep valleys, a journey designed to showcase the lush natural scenery of Hakone. About five minutes after boarding (100 meters from sea level), you will walk out of the cable car from the Hayakawa River Valley, where a group of villas sit by the river like an idyllic mountain village.
The area is part of the Miyanoshita Onsen district in Hakone, and undiluted pure spring water fills the villa’s bathroom, which is Dogashima, a rare privilege that provides guests with a particularly special bathing experience.
Careful comfort, carefully planned art
Throughout four seasons, the untamed wilderness of Hayakawa River Valley shrouds nine villas in Espacio. From the murmurs of nearby rivers and teeth grinding, the chirping of birds and birds to the crisp aroma of frosty trees in winter, and the smell of the earth and forests in summer, in the place of Espacio, where you live in the place of Espacio in Hakone’s rich natural world. The nine villas in Espacio did not disturb this Eden environment, rising from the valley floor in perfect harmony with the landscape.
Matching the beauty around each villa is the elegance of everyone’s decor. All nine are unique in design and decoration, with works by Japanese artists joining in every room. Depending on their residence, guests may fall asleep under the sophisticated wooden renderings of Hakone’s four protector deities (Kirin, Tortoise, Dragon and Phoenix), or dine next to the creation of a craftsman who creates clay, decorative Karakami Paper and Urushi caper and urishi capoles that create shots and smooth engravings. Silver and golden leaves, kumiko woodworking, karakami Woodblock printed Washington, calligraphy and other Japanese arts and crafts, give Villa Espacio a traditional aesthetic that blends modern prosperity.
Each villa comes with a well-designed open-air bathroom, sophisticated and elegant interior bathroom and a tranquil pool. The terrace invites you to taste the essence of the valley while welcoming the living area with spacious windows that offer quiet comfort and unparalleled views. For extra luxury, choose one of the five villas with a sauna. Those who need accessibility will find satisfaction and convenience on the meticulous equipment of Musubi Villa.

Personalized hospitality, the most advanced food

The meal was produced under the supervision of Michelin-star Kyoto restaurant Tominokoji Yamagishi, embracing a high spirit while highlighting Hakone’s wealthy, seasonal bounty. The sake pairing selected by the famous Sommelier Keita Akaboshi is provided with exquisitely coated dishes on handmade cutlery to create a completely immersive dining experience. All meals are delivered directly to each villa to ensure privacy and personalized hospitality.
