Glass Butt Plug- Is the T-base necessary? Are these two wide?

Got some new plugs for my wife. She asked me to help her find a toy. I was skeptical about these plugs because the round base before the T-shaped part looks a little wide, about 1/2 inch. Is that too wide? It seems wide compared to other plugs we own. Also, I know the T-shaped base is more secure but I have concerns about comfort.
