Expert relationship standards
It’s time to reevaluate things.
Nowadays, people share various aspects of romantic relationships online, it is difficult to know what is not true.
However, according to experts, you are not comparing your romantic life to what you see on social media, but paying attention to whether you receive these specific “minimum minimum minimum minimum” behaviors from your partner.
“We see grand gestures online gestures, inevitably comparing them to our own relationships. It’s easy to forget the consistency in small gestures, which really brings people closer to people,” says Charisse Cooke, an MNCPS-accredited psychotherapist and resident, an expert at Down Dating App flirtini.
If you think bathing with flowers and gifts is a type of behavior that must be taken in your relationship, consider it again. Cook notes that “reliability, attention and mutual respect” are what you should expect.
Healthy relationships are about equality, so while one person should never expect another to book every trip or dinner reservation – “The minimum means both of you take action regularly,” Cook explains.
“Saying ‘I give us tickets to the concert’ or ‘I can cook’ has a long way to go because it shows that you invest in your own shared life, not just having fun.”
Thoughtfulness is another behavior that everyone should strive to have in a relationship.
Rather than asking your partner’s basic questions like “How are you doing today?” Cook suggests thinking more about it, but asking more specific questions like “What’s the tone?”
“It shows how much care is to remember what is important to them. Avoid chatbot-like conversations at all costs,” the expert said.
Posting other important content on social media is a controversial topic. Some people drown their followers with cute photos of themselves and their partners, while others tend to make their love life more private.
But Cook has his own ideas on the topic.
She said: “I like half-naked influencers every day and only post your partner once a month?
Be consistent with the subject of two people between two people and treat each other equally – doing things without a loved one is the main green flag behavior.
“The ordinary task is the devil, and it also makes them a great opportunity to show you care. Promoting your partner for more invisible labor can make them both tired and resentful. So, don’t opt out.”
The fifth minimal behavior that all relationships should have is knowing how to smooth things out after some conflict.
“Many people expect a perfect couple not to fight at all, and in reality, it’s more about keeping the guts going back after one,” the expert explained.
“At least at some point, the bare minimum is being repaired together. A text like, ‘I’m very demanding, can we talk?’ Are words like this?’ Rebuild your trust while prolonged silence and withdrawal of signals emotion absent and really hurts the relationship.”
