Unlike traditional theme parks focusing on exciting rides, Ghibli Park offers an immersive experience that brings the studio’s beloved movies to life. It is located in the Expo Park in Aichi County and opened in November 2022 and has since delighted visitors with its faithful Ghibli environmental entertainment.

Unlike the Ghibli Museum in Mississica, Tokyo, which focuses on the animation process, Ghibli Park allows you to physically enter the world of your favorite movies. The attention to detail is extraordinary – from the squeaking wooden floors of Satsuki and Mei houses to the steampunk machinery of Howl Castle. The park consists of five different areas:

Ticketing system

Getting tickets to Ghibli Park requires planning ahead as there is no sale at the entrance of the park. Here is what you need to know about the ticketing system:

Date and specific time – All tickets are on specific dates and entry times.

  • Limited availability: Tickets sold out quickly, especially on weekends and holidays.
  • No reenter: Reentry is usually not allowed except for Witch Valley.

Tickets are usually issued at 2pm on all dates next month. Set calendar reminders for release dates. Preparing to buy in the first few minutes can make all the difference between success and disappointment.

Purchase tickets from Japan

If you are purchasing tickets from within Japan, there are a few options available. visit Ghibli Park Official Domestic Ticket Page. Tickets are sold through the Boo-woo Ticket (Japan-only) website or the LOPPI terminal of Lawson or Japan’s Ministop store. Tickets will be sold on the 10th of each month for the next two months, and in addition to the Light Sanpo Pass, the pass will be available 7 days in advance.

If you are a resident of AICHI, you will get priority when booking tickets on the same day of the AICHI resident, who is on the 27th of the month. Visit the specified web page here In order to book and remember to bring a valid ID (driver’s license, my number card, etc.) on the day of entry, you can prove that you are a resident of AICHI.

Ticket Options

  1. O-Sanpo Day Pass, Ghibli Park All five areas are allowed, but certain buildings are not included.
  2. O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium, Ghibli Park All areas and buildings are allowed.
  3. Ghibli Park Light Sanpo Pass Buy it only in the country, excluding Ghibli’s large warehouse.

Purchase tickets from overseas

If you are purchasing tickets from outside Japan, please visit Ghibli Park Official International Ticket Page. Tickets will be released two calendars in advance at 2 pm on the 10th of this month, and the warehouse requires reserved admission time. Before the release date, create an account on the Lawson ticket.

When purchasing tickets to Ghibli Park, you will be on a first come first served basis to enter the global virtual queue system. After accessing the ticketing website at a specified time, you will receive a queue number. To maximize your chances, use multiple devices at the same time (computer, phone, tablet) and then get the purchase on any device first. If your credit card is denied, please continue to log in to keep you in the queue. Register will confiscate your location. Just use the same card without exiting the system to try again.

Ticket Options

  1. By March 2025:
    • O-Sanpo Day Pass, Ghibli Park All areas are allowed, but some buildings are excluded.
    • O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium, Ghibli Park All areas and buildings are allowed.
  2. Starting from April 2025:
    • O-Sanpo Day Pass Standard in Ghibli Park Allow access to Ghibli’s Great Warehouse, Monnock Village and Witch Valley.
    • O-Sanpo Day Pass Premium, Ghibli Park Allow full access.

Important Note

Ghibli Park requires an e-ticket (accessed from the URL via confirmation email) and an entry passport for the booking holder. Smartphones with Internet connection are necessary to display tickets through Moala ticketing system without installing an app. If you don’t have a smartphone, you must bring the printout of the QR code (screenshots are not accepted).

If all the others fail…

If you can’t get tickets through official channels, don’t lose hope. Several Japanese travel agencies, e.g. Klookoffers Ghibli Park packages, including park tickets, hotel accommodation, and sometimes other trips.
