Depth cue?

I (age 18) recently upsized my dildo. It was a big step up, going from 6″ long and 5″ girth to 8.5″ long and 7″ girth. I’ve only used this new dildo once and I know how to adjust the girth, but I’m confused about the length. I found myself being able to shorten it down to 6″, which I could barely get with the old dildo. Does anyone know any tips on how to get a dildo deeper?
