Denmark discovered before the gold -plated Viking helmet fragments -

Lajer in the northwestern part of Danish island of Denmark discovered the fragments of the former Viking helmet. This is one of the most gorgeous helmets found in the Scandinavian Peninsula. The fragments are gold -plated bronze, with red garnet gems and complex carved animal patterns. Design of animal image -its obvious teeth and big eyes — can be traced back to 650 to 750 AD, that is, the late Elimonian iron era, just before the Viking era of AD before dawn

The helmet fragments are composed of two adjacent fragments, which perfectly combine together, forming most of the curved brown spine. These cultural relics were discovered by two metal detectors in the spring of 2024. These cultural relics are classified as DANAFAE (precious metal archeological discovery), so it belongs to national property. The discoverers immediately handed them to the Danish National Museum, and the latter quickly recorded the discovery to borrow it back to the Laijie Museum for display.

Kredit ROMUIn the early five centuries of the Iron Age and the Viking era, Laijer has always been the place and the main power center of the royal family. Because there was no written record in that era, our only source of the King of Lejre was Iceland’s legend and Eddas (prose and poetry text of the 13th century Nordic mythology), and the legendary chronicles, such as GESTA DANORUM and Poetry of the 12th century like Best. Owufu. Literature regards Lejre as the place where the first royal family is. It is the hometown of the legendary Denmark’s first ruling dynasty SKJöLDUNG or Scylding clan, but there is no historical evidence to confirm its importance.

Archaeological excavation fills this gap. The first Royal Hall site was unearthed in 1986. In the 40 years since then, several royal halls were discovered, including a huge royal hall discovered during the excavation in 2009. It is 200 feet long and 40 feet wide. It is the largest royal hall discovered so far in Denmark. Its history can be traced back to the end of the eighth century or the beginning of the ninth century. These halls are places where the rulers are sitting at a high place to receive subjects and guests. The age of the grand hall found there has witnessed the position of Lejre’s 500 years as the place where the royal family of the rule of the rule.

These materials and craftsmanship indicates that it is a ritual role, not a fighting hardware, and Leejer is not a battlefield in the late Leman iron era. The Danish elite gathers there for religious and political purposes and trade. The decorative elements of helmet fragments are very similar to found in England and Sweden, which shows that Lergel’s helmet may be imported.

The helmet emphasizes the grandness and status we see in the lobby building and tomb monument of Laijer’s lobby at the same time. According to Julie Nielson, this is a very special item that is the highest -level system that is dedicated to the king or the highest level system divided by the website:

“The dark red garnet has been linked to strength for a long time. The detailed decoration on the helmet tells a story, a narrative, telling the huge power of the people who have and wearing it,” said the head of the archeological person. […]

John Ljungkvist, an archaeologist and senior researcher at the University of Upsara, carefully studied the helmet fragments from Lejre and emphasized its unique structure:

In John Ljungkvist, it is unique to produce a helmet that can produce this level of helmets:

“This is a very special quality crafts -it is equivalent to the crafts behind the famous helmets in the British Sadon Hushen Ship.”
