Delta Air Lines passengers shocked by identity of embarrassing customer

Angry man arguing on smartphone about unemployment issue

Is the phone call a “breakup”?

A Delta Air Lines passenger was left extremely embarrassed after receiving a call from customer service and finding out the customer service agent was his ex-girlfriend. The uncomfortable exchange was detailed in the mortifying flyer’s viral Reddit post.

“I’ve heard of running into exes, but I’ve never heard of talking to exes through customer service,” the unnamed traveler, who was flying with his wife and children, wrote of the “weird” convoy.

The Reddit user said he received a call back from Delta customer service about an unspecified issue when he noticed a “familiar voice on the other end.”

It didn’t take long for both parties to realize that they were talking to their ex-lovers.

“When we realized who the other person was, we had a slightly terse moment of, ‘Oh wow, I didn’t expect it to be you,'” recalled the passenger, who claimed his ex had some reaction to this new life attack.

“As we started talking, she confirmed a few details about me and my trip and then said in a sarcastic voice, ‘Wow, first class with a wife and kids, huh?’ It was very peculiar,” he recalls. “We didn’t have a long chase or anything. She sounded a little jealous. “

In fact, his pain was apparently so deep that his ex-girlfriend neglected to help the poor guy with his problems.

“She said she couldn’t help me with my problem and I quickly ended the conversation,” he wrote. “My wife next to me was confused.”

Reddit users of the man expressed sympathy for his past experience, with many joking that his ex would revoke his Delta benefits as a result.

“A breakup will upgrade you to a C+ too much,” one person quipped.

“Brother is always mysteriously at the bottom of every upgrade list until the end of time,” another wrote. “He will have a delta of 360 billion miles and will never get an upgrade.”

They added: “My condolences, OP. I can only imagine what would happen to me if a couple of my exes picked up the phone.”

A third suggested the poster “delete this post and make it anonymous” or he might risk revealing his username to his ex “if she is an r/delta reader.”

Others criticized the ex-lover for letting personal matters supersede her duties as a customer service professional.

“Her comments were unnecessary,” one critic said. “She needs to become more professional.”

“Every customer service call center I’ve worked at asked us to transfer the call to another rep if it was someone we knew,” another said. “The rep should have done that.”

Another suggested: “You should file a complaint. The last thing Delta wants is for a CS representative to humiliate passengers who chose first class.”

Some commenters even urged the Reddit user to check if she canceled his flight – which he claimed was not the case.
