Dating Behavior Women Are Tired of: “Pulling Teeth”

A 27-year-old Australian was confused by a man’s behavior after the two went on a date.

Paije met a man on the dating app Hinge. He was very talkative in text messages – even if some of the comments were “embarrassing.” But when they were dating, Paige said trying to get anything from him was like “pulling teeth.”

“After about 30 to 45 minutes, I only got a one-word reply from him and I couldn’t take it anymore. I started monologuing about myself and that’s what happened for the rest of the three hours,” Piper told news.com.au.

“I did try, not that I took over the conversation and didn’t let him get a word in. I spent 30 minutes trying to get to know him, even asking basic questions like ‘What kind of music do you listen to?’ His response was “Oh, a little bit of everything. “

“It got to the point where, what do I do? I’ve had more vivid, engaging job interviews.”

It doesn’t stop there. The man complained that other appointments were canceled that day. When Piper tried to explain the context in which women would feel uncomfortable meeting someone online in real life, the man got defensive. He asked what this had to do with him.

The two lived close to each other and when they arrived at his apartment, he tried to kiss her. She said “No thank you” and he turned and walked inside.

Piper was surprised he didn’t offer to take her home. Then, the next day, she received a text message.

“Hey. So I’ve been thinking about our date last night and I don’t know you seemed like you didn’t want to be there and you really weren’t interested in what I had to say. It seems like you don’t like me anymore. But I could be wrong ,” the man wrote.

Piper told the man he was right. She said she quickly accepted his one-sentence answer.
