Dating asks the girl to separate from him French fries

The old question about who should pay on his first date has been rekindled.

A 28-year-old woman went to Reddit to share her recent interactions on her latest date.

“We have burgers and fries to share, and I’m willing to cover up the tip because he pays for the meal,” the woman wrote in a post, spreading quickly, receiving more than 11,000 votes and igniting a danger of a series of reactions.

She offered to cover the tips he accepted and everything seemed fine–until the next morning.

“This morning, I woke up to Venmo’s request for $3.25, notes ‘half of fries’.”

At first, she thought it was a joke, but unfortunately, the cheaper ones are serious about splitting the fries bills.

She refused the request and texted that it was small and his answer would only make things worse. He then told her that she was overreacting, “It’s about fairness” and “This is what he looks like.”

Needless to say, there will be no second date. “Now I feel shut down and honestly insulted,” she wrote.

According to her story, she had a first date with a 30-year-old man. They ordered the burger and fries to share, and he paid for the meal, but Weimo then asked her. New Africa – stock.adobe.com

Commenters quickly tweeted – many of them stood with the woman, saying Venmo asked for a lot of dates to red flags. Especially since the amount (only $3.25) is considered ridiculously small, it won’t undermine the bank.

One user summarized the collective sentiment:

“…Anyone with a brain knows that asking for a return of three dollars will be 100% guaranteed no future dates. He tells you that $3 is more valuable than your company.”

Another shared a similar story that connects behavior to deeper issues surrounding power and control.

They commented: “This happened on my first date too…I just wanted to share how often this happened and someone expects the first date and becomes trivial when rejected.”

Many readers who are truly disturbing are not only Venmo’s demands, but men’s reasons: “This is what I look like.” Many point out that such excuses are often the mask of deeper, toxic behavior.

Sadly, this Cheappo isn’t the only date who asked him to share his bill.

A Brazilian influencer once was asked to pay half of the $8 juice label they had piled up on the date.

“I paid for my stake and thanked him for the date and departure, but no second date,” Rosana Ferreira recalled.

“How would he invest in relationships if he can’t invest in juice?” she asked. “It has nothing to do with money; it has nothing to do with attitude.”
