Come and see my musical improvisation in Toronto! - Girl

“What yes Music improvisation, is it? ”

Many friends have asked me this question over the past few months as I work hard on beginners and advanced music improvisation courses at Comedy Bars in Toronto.

I’m always glad they ask because I’ve been obsessed with this art form for years, before even getting involved with it before I gathered my guts. I can stay for a few hours.

Our inquiry was “a room in the house”

The advice we got was “mud room”

I was given the title of the song “It’s too muddy room”

I sang a affectionate solo about divorce and muddy boots

When they asked about this, I explained to them that this type of musical improvisation (rather than instrumental jazz riffs) involves songs sung on the live with the help of a music director who plays the piano. Usually a short form game you might see in old episodes Whose behavior is itlike Hoedown or Irish drinking, you can write lyrics in it as a pre-existing melody.

But other times, we make up lyrics and Meanwhile melodies, and quotes Zach Reino who improvises music – “If it sounds horrible…thanks!”

it yes It’s scary, but that’s part of what I love about it. You always surf the edge of adrenaline’s razor, always trying to land the next line, the next rhyme. And because Improv is based on the momentary impulse of our strange brain, it sometimes falls in some Zany’s place.

Yes, I can now upload longer videos here, so I can share:

I had a solo song from my musical improvisation show earlier this week!

The advice I got was “The Last Pizza”

This show is totally crazy to me because I’m not nervous at all and I’m sure I’ve never happened in my life

By the way, these shows all end with the musical “Improvised Jam”Optional!) Put your name on the hat and get called to the riff through a bunch of other cool comedy nerds, which may include (based on energy levels after the show). So if you love the show and find yourself curious about your musical improvements, you can immediately shoot it with support and talented people, including our super high music director on the keys Jacob Ollivier!

If I might attract you further, here is a short clip from my last musical improvisation, i.e. I improvised the blues poem about spaceships and Jeff Bezos

It’s really exciting to do so many improvisations again. Before this latest job, I haven’t really finished the improvisation since high school (14 years ago!) and then restarted reminding me that laughter and joy are more important now than ever…and, it’s easier to do hard things when you force yourself to do something fun.

Hope to meet you at the Comedy Bar for some irrelevant musical fun
