Change is difficult, which can be expensive. It takes time and effort.

If you are not ready to make this commitment, seeking help is a waste of time and money. If you are too busy and can spend time, it is also a waste. You also have to be in an emotional space that can be opened and may hear difficult things.

Not ready to seek help is a real thing, and it is not always because the person is reluctant to change. It is a bad idea to seek help when you are not ready. You cannot guarantee this. This will lead to disappointment and make the situation worse.

If your wife forces you to ask for help with her and you know you are not ready, tell the truth. Tell her that you want to do something that needs to be done in a better marriage, but you can’t do it for the moment. If you can tell her why she can’t, that will help.

It is not uncommon to come to a meeting or two by one person, and then stop, only months or even years before you get ready. That’s fine.
