Celebrate and stand up for women!

If you don’t do it, who will?

The following is an email I sent in late February 2024 international women’s daybut since I never posted it to this blog, and since the post is still valid and important, I wanted to reiterate its message.

When I wake up in the wee hours of the morning (something I’ve been doing a lot lately), I can’t help but think about tryst theory and the meaning of this month, especially international women’s day close to March 8. In this time of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to celebrate and elevate women. As the International Women’s Day website aptly states, “When women themselves are inspired to get involved, it creates a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.”

Since its founding 15 years ago, Trystology has been committed to the cause of female empowerment. This manifests differently for each of us, but at its core it is about elevating women and empowering them to claim what is rightfully theirs: their bodies, their choices, their consent and, of course, their sexuality climax. I know, I know, I often bring the conversation back to orgasms, but this is an undeniable aspect of our autonomy – our right to our own orgasms!

Yesterday, as I was scrolling through my email looking for updates on our favorite Bitches Against Bullshit tees, a shocking discovery gave me pause. The company’s boss has been the target of harassment and shaming for his unabashed and, in my opinion, brilliant social commentary. Lacey fearlessly speaks her truth with her unapologetic and playful flair. From the limited-edition “Not Today, Man-Preacher” filled with “the confidence that free-thinking women everywhere deserve” to “Beach Please, I’m a Mermaid Mom” and “All F*cked Up,” Lacey and the Malicious Women’s Candle Company has us winning over heart! Yet despite Lacey’s success, she, like many of us navigating the tumultuous waves of 2023, almost lost her business to haters.

This International Women’s Day, let’s cheer for women like Lacey who are brave enough to speak their truth and refuse to be silenced. I appreciate her refusal to give in to the suffocating demands of conformity, advice be damned! I highly recommend you read her latest blog, “Dystopian Hellscape: The War on Women,” a profound reflection on the state of women’s rights in the United States.

As we mark International Women’s Day on March 8, the theme of “Inspiring Inclusion” resonates deeply with us. It calls us to support the inclusion of women and girls in all aspects of life – be it leadership, education or economic empowerment. Let’s commit to cultivating a culture that understands, values and includes women at both the individual and organizational levels. As we embark on this journey of empowerment, let us not forget the power of affirmations. On March 10, let’s continue our journey of empowerment and affirm self-love and worth. Embracing the powerful word “I Am” is a testament to every woman’s uniqueness, worth, and empowerment. Together, let’s build a more inclusive world where every woman feels valued, heard, and empowered to thrive.

The amazing thing about this post is that I had no idea at the time that we wouldn’t be receiving any shipments of Bitches Against Bullshit shirts in the next few months. The shirts we have been wearing for the last few years…my customers started asking me every day “when are you going to get the shirts back in stock…I had no answer. They were sold out and I couldn’t order. Then at the end of August, when Once again we had our fifth customer this week…I wrote to the malicious women and asked them “Can you help a girl? “I told her “my customers are ‘women against the bullshit.’ We have attitude and love empowerment. In the world we live in now, that message needs to get out!”

You won’t believe it, but the owner Lacie called me!

We are now the only store outside of Malicious Women Candle Company in Sonomish, WA to carry these amazing shirts, hats, and candles! For that, I’m so grateful because I’m happy to be a purveyor of malice and empower women to be bitches against bullshit!
